To find out what's happening with salary levels across East Anglia, take a closer look at the 9th Cooper Lomaz Salary Survey!
As a leading East Anglian recruitment consultancy, we have our finger on the pulse of what is really going on across major sectors of the regional economy.
Developments at Cooper Lomaz
- We've had another exceptional year, with permanent and contract placements soaring by 30%. This level of activity gives us a unique insight into the trends and realities of salaries and recruitment in 2012 and into the future.
- Our brand new website provides job seekers with exceptional functionality. We have also implemented one of the most sophisticated candidate and client CRM systems to be found in any recruitment consultancy in the UK.
- The company's expansion has seen us taking on (and training) a number of recent graduates. We will be recruiting graduates in 2012, as well as a number of experienced consultants for our IT and Engineering teams.
- Our Oil, Gas and Renewables team has relocated to a new office in Lowestoft at the Orbis Energy Centre. This is a perfect location to work with our Oil & Gas clients who operate in the new Enterprise Zone at Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.
- The New Anglia Enterprise Zone will capitalise on the area already being a hotspot for the energy sector. Any increases in business rate income will be retained by the New Anglia LEP (Local Enterprise Partnership) to support economic development across Norfolk and Suffolk. This could generate tens of millions of pounds over the next 25 years and even more jobs in the area.
- 2011 saw Cooper Lomaz win a major recruitment project with two of Norway's leading energy companies – Statoil and Statkraft – who are running the Sheringham Shoal Windfarm 12 kilometres off the coast of north Norfolk. This has involved recruiting a large team of engineering, health & safety and marine professionals.

The Cooper Lomaz Business Barometer
The results of the Cooper Lomaz Salary Survey indicated that business sentiment in East Anglia is generally positive. Below are some of the highlights of our findings.
- A massive 55% of business owners thought that the 2012 Olympics will have a positive impact on East Anglia.
- An interesting finding was that skills shortages in the region – especially in the engineering sector – would be a major challenge in 2012. One possible solution could be for employers to look at recruitment consultancies like Cooper Lomaz who have specialist sector expertise across East Anglia. Engineering is one of eight sectors where our consultants are achieving impressive results.
- The survey showed that a lack of talent and poor transport links were the two biggest factors inhibiting growth in the region. If transport links were improved, talented candidates could more easily take up career opportunities. There is of course a political dimension to this which should be addressed urgently.
As we enter our 22nd year in the recruitment business, we look forward to providing everyone with the highest levels of service in 2012.
